From Barcelona, Costa Brava and Medieval Villages
We will pick you up at your hotel in Barcelona city to visit one of the nicest coastal areas of Catalonia and Spain, the Costa Brava. Also we will visit two of the most well preserved Medieval Villages near the coast, Pals and Peratallada.
We will start our tour in Calella de Palafrugell where it seems that time stands still, on the beach of Port Bo we still find the boats going to daily fishing. As if they waited for the storm to calm to go to the sea...Low and whitewashed cottages have been renovated but retain all the charm of yesteryear. The coastline in this area has been saved from the building frenzy has affected our coast lately. We also find the Indiano Colonial-style houses, build for the people who emigrate to America and return after making a fortune, most to Cuba. Some returned home with the longing of those lands and a sweet and sad music, the Havaneres. The singing of Havaneres of Calella, on a stage on the sea is celebrated in July on the beach of Port Bo, surrounded by boats packed with people they sing their melancholic songs.
This Private tour includes:
A 15 minutes easy walk following a path by the sea (Camino de Ronda) will get you to Llafranc, a small Cove of golden sand with a small promenade, terraces and restaurants that give to it. And the sourranding hills it raises the lighthouse of Sant Sebastià with magnificent views over the coast.
From Llafranc we go to Begur, also a fishing village, with a castle at the top overlooking the coast and the plain of the Baix Empordà. Narrow streets and small squares. It also shares a past with Calella and Llafranc with a good number of houses of the Indianos. little gems that stand out over the simplicity of other buildings.
We will have lunch in Pals, where we can taste the delicious rice that is grown in this area. After lunch we will visit the Gothic quarter known as "Pedró", the Church of Sant Pere, the Tower of the hours... and to visit Peratallada, certainly a marvel of medieval civil architecture. We'll see how this small town retains its feudal inheritance intact, narrow, winding streets and stone buildings. We will see the wall, the moat, the Castle-Palace, the square with porches, all the old quarter.
